Segunda Circular

Located over a busy arterial motorway in Lisbon, this prizewinning concept is focused on its bold shape – a strong, sharply-curved ‘Z’– that is at once striking and somewhat organic. The essence of the bridge is its simplicity, with very few visually perceptible components to it. The plates forming the sides of the trough act as acoustic and visual protection to the bridge users. Structurally, it is a hybrid, combining aspects of a through trough girder and a closed box beam.
