Private Client | De Beauvoir Town, London UK 2011

With a view to creating more space and also rationalising the circulation throughout the interior space, this semi-detached home in London’s De Beauvoir neighourbood was entirely stripped and refurbished, adding to it a modest two-story extension. The added space replaced a hodgepodge of efforts to extend the home with a single unifying new addition, taking the chance to bring in new features such as a green roof.

The extension’s exterior was imagined as a sequence of timber panels framed by a galvanized steel band that relates to the new organisation of space inside. The ground floor kitchen and dining area is visually open to the garden, surrounded on two sides by full height windows and a sliding glass door.
