Marking the entrance of Foryd Harbour, the design of this bridge is such that it’s not only announces the inlet, but provides the landscape with a theatrical element. Its slim-line form balances a raising deck with a white mast, designed to create a legible opening sequence. As one tips, the other lifts, with the counterweight mast a constant reminder of this potential for movement.

The bridge is a also a response to the site: its geometry has been considered to ensure that the location of the bridge and, as importantly, its raising and lowering is as visible as possible from the surrounding towns of Rhyl and Kimmel Bay. As such, the bridge is consciously and deliberately a landmark and a symbol of its maritime context.
