Worcester County Council | Evesham, UK 2021-ongoing
This high level crossing over the flood prone River Avon in Worcestershire, England will complete an active travel route between Hampton and Evesham. The bridge design responds to the river topography, springing from the steep western bank to span over the river at tree canopy height. It will then pass through an alley of mature trees along the eastern bank before marching across a low-lying floodplain as a light touch viaduct.
The slender weathering steel structure will capitalise on its setting, offering new vantage points to users while patinating to blend in with the verdant surroundings. The design is contextual with a minimal footprint on the site and in terms of material quantities to ensure an efficient delivery in the near future.
