The Torridon Gateway Visitor Centre and Ranger Base is proposed at the southeast side of a parcel of land at the junction for Torridon village off the A896 between Kinlochewe and Shieldaig. The proposed Gateway Visitor Centre - and by extension its surrounding site - is envisioned to act both as a signpost for the area and a stand-alone destination for visitors and locals alike.
A modern, low-profile building with a grass-covered roof is nestled among lush trees. It borders a field of wildflowers under a hazy sky, with a mountainous backdrop.
A modern building with a slanted roof sits in a vast, minimal, snowy landscape. A curved, dark road leads toward the structure, surrounded by white ground and distant pale hills.

The facility will be an exciting and attractive destination, comprised of a careful balance of public & private facilities, and fixed & flexible functions to suit the needs of the NTS and the community. The existing ranger base no longer meets the requirements of the NTS, has fallen into a considerable state of disrepair and will be demolished. An important aspect of the proposed design is that equal importance is placed on the building and on its surrounding landscape – maximizing the overall functionality and appeal of the Gateway Visitor Centre whilst maintaining a modest and sustainable building footprint appropriate to the immediate and wider landscape.

A modern, minimalist house with large glass windows is softly illuminated in a serene landscape. Its surrounded by trees and mist, with a foreground of grassy fields dotted with small white flowers, creating a peaceful, atmospheric scene.
