This proposal for the Nye Holmenkollbakken celebrates the courageous and exhilarating act of the ski jump.  The legible form of the proposal is an enhancement of that of the previously existing jump and was envisaged as a major new landmark on the Oslo skyline.

Futuristic snowy mountain station with sleek white architecture, overlooking pine trees, designed by MOXON Architects.

The dynamic, fluid configuration of the jump, fabricated from a lacquered timber monocoque, appears like a sheet of ice growing from the hillside. The sweeping form celebrates the grace and movement of the jump while, practically, the shell form provide shelters from cross winds.

Slatted timber elements contrast the smooth surfaces of the jump, evoking the embedded relationship that traditional Norwegian architecture takes with the surrounding landscape.  Furthermore the use of timber gives the new jump a tangible human scale when experienced at close quarters.
