HS2 Short Span Viaducts
Alongside the flagship viaduct designs for HS2, we have developed a family of Short Span viaducts which share common design elements applicable to a number of sites along the line. This approach benefits from standardisation, maintaining commonality across a suite of structures.
Highfurlong Brook Viaduct is the first of the typlogy to be completed as part of the line between London and Birmingham. The 163-metre-long viaduct near the village of Aston le Walls in Northamptonshire crosses Highfurlong Brook, a tributary of the River Cherwell that joins the Thames at Oxford, and its floodplain.
