The David and Indrė Roberts Collection
In addition to the Grade II listed Somerlea Maltings restoration, the clients recognise the opportunity to display up to 30 sculptures from their collection within the 30 acres of surrounding fields, opening up their sculpture collection for the first time. To this end the team are currently developing a masterplan for the site to include public facilities, parking and, working with the The David and Indrė Roberts Collection curatorial team, a combined landscaping and public art strategy.
With a world-renowned art collection comprising over 3,500 works, The Sculpture Garden at Somerlea Farm will allow sculptures from the Roberts’ collection to be seen by the public in the open air. The works will be semi-permanent, changing occasionally when loaned to museums or to highlight specific artists. The majority of works are of a ‘human scale’ and their materiality is well suited to the pastoral environment.
