3 houses in Logie Coldstone
3 houses in Logie Coldstone
This project comprises three 1.5-storey sustainable homes in Logie Coldstone, a rural Aberdeenshire village near the Cairngorms. The site layout responds to the natural topography, minimising ground disturbance by building on the flattest area. Each dwelling is designed for maximal construction and energy efficiency with a compact, flexible floor plan with a 4.8m x 2.4m structural grid, eliminating internal loadbearing walls.
The homes are simple pitched roof forms with elegant but robust detailing and materials. South-facing entrances lead to open-plan living spaces, a central shower room, and rear utility access. Sliding doors connect interiors to covered patios, maximising daylight and views. The design balances vernacular forms with a modern, sustainable approach rooted in context.
