Adaptive reuse to create a rural agricultural hub
Turan Farm
2025 — ongoing
The 143‑metre-long structure now accommodates a diverse programme including staff and visitor accommodation, workshops, offices, and storage for agricultural vehicles. At the western end, the building expands its role by incorporating high‑end hospitality spaces designed for leisure and corporate use.
The retrofit preserves an existing precast concrete portal frame, integrating it into a modern, high‑performance building envelope. Inside, the original concrete frames are partially revealed at high level, celebrating the rhythm and scale of the existing structure while maximising ceiling height. New full‑height glazing, supported by mass timber framing, opens the interior to expansive views of the surrounding landscape.
A zinc‑clad roof extends over a generous terrace - set within the original footprint - to provide solar protection without compromising daylight or outward views.
As part of a wider masterplan, the project also introduces a terraced landscape designed to harvest rainwater for irrigation of the olive and almond groves. The new building envelope is constructed with locally sourced natural materials, including stone and timber, carefully detailed to complement and integrate the existing concrete structure.
