HS2 is the 190 km high speed rail line linking London with Birmingham and the West Coast Main Line near Lichfield. The line is planned to open in 2026 and will increase capacity and improve journey times between the two largest cities in the UK and bring economic growth to the Midlands.

The £6.6bn Main Works Civils Contracts (MWCC) have been let as two-part design and build contracts, to ‘encourage innovation and flexibility’ in delivery and collaboration across the supply chain and with HS2 Ltd.

Moxon Architects were engaged by CEK in 2016 alongside consulting engineers Arcadis, COWI and Setec to design viaducts, bridges, tunnels and other civils assets. Two of the three central sections were awarded to CEK in Q3 2017 and the team is now progressing to completion of Stage 1 Design in Q2 2018.
