Ben Addy, Managing Director BArch DipArch [Dist.] ARB RIBA RIAS Since establishing the practice in 2004 Ben has cultivated Moxon into an award winning, cross-disciplinary architecture firm, building up a reputation for technical achievement, aesthetic versatility and an inquisitive, collaborative design process. Under his leadership, Moxon has secured a wide variety of major clients including the Cairngorms National Park Authority, the City of Westminster, Transport for London, Hauser & Wirth, HS2 Ltd. and Transport Scotland. He gained professional recognition early on, being named to the Architects’ Journal / Corus top “40 under 40” in 2004. Since then the practice has received numerous national and international awards for design, construction excellence and conservation, including being named Architectural Practice of the Year at the Scottish Design Awards in 2019 and 2021. Ben was elected to the Royal Scottish Academy in 2020 and is Visiting Professor at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture in Aberdeen. For 9 years, Ben ran a Degree Unit in Architectural Design at the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, UCL. Ben’s former students include recipients of the RIBA Undergraduate Medal, the RIBA Dissertation Medal, RIBA Serjeant Award and the UCL Donaldson Medal. He has contributed building reviews and opinion pieces to the RIBA Journal, RIAS Quarterly, Architecture Today and the Architect’s Journal. Outside of practice Ben is a Director of the Cairngorms Trust and an active member of the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team.
Tim Murray, Director BSc [Hons] DipArch ARB RIBA Tim joined Moxon as a Director in 2008 after three years as director of a firm specialising in workspace design. Tim oversees and manages a number of the practice’s residential, commercial and management projects. A practicing architect since 2001, over the course of his career he has specialised in the design and project management of fast track projects across the UK, at every stage from concept and planning through to detail design and implementation. Through this, Tim has built substantial experience in responding to complex briefs on sensitive sites, demanding the type of creative and contextual solutions for which Moxon is now known. His design work excels at directly addressing clients’ aspirations while operating within the constraints of planning and budgets.
