London Pleasure Gardens’ pedestrian bridge is a temporary structure (with a 2 year life) which connects the north and the south side of the Royal Docks. The design of the bridge is conceived as a ribbon, folded into a long spiral, creating an intruiguing interior territory. To underline the contrast, bright color is applied on the internal surfaces while the external finish remains dark.

Along the 100m length of the bridge, views are framed by the triangular facets of the canopy highlighting the multiple interesting elements of the site. As a reminder of the site's industrial and maritime past, the bridge floats on a base of 12 sealed containers, arranged in a herringbone pattern.

London Pleasure Gardens will be alive 24 hours a day. During the day, the bridge will appear as an elegant geometric composition, revealing itself with light and shadows, where people wander around and stop to observe the site. At night, concealed interior lighting will enhance the internal coloured surfaces, as well as the surfaces shadows and reflections of the bridge - elevating it into a playful and inhabitable urban sculpture.
