Les Benoits House
Les Benoits House
The new two-storey residential dwelling is conceived to integrate harmoniously with the surrounding rural context and the adjacent historic hamlet of Villars; whilst conserving the existing agricultural structures on the premises for repurposing as a workshop and pottery studio.
Large archways on the ground floor facing north and east establish a connection to the outdoor areas and provide vistas of the surrounding landscape, while the balcony attached to the primary bedroom on the first floor provides views of the northern garden.

A visually light single-storey glass structure bridges the existing buildings and proposed new dwelling, serving as a link that connects the studios to the living quarters. A second glazed link connects the studios at ground level within the existing courtyard along the boundary wall.
The lightweight nature of these linking structures contrasts with the solidity of the stone buildings, preserving their significance.
