A garden extension shaped by light, seclusion and connection.
Montana Road
2024 — 2026
The extension defines a sheltered courtyard along its side, drawing daylight and planting deep into the plan. Generous glazed openings provide panoramic views of the garden and courtyard, while a fully glazed oriel window projects into the landscape, framed by integrated brick planters. A built-in bench within the reveal creates a place to sit and engage directly with the garden setting. Large sliding doors extend the dining area onto the existing terrace, and an expansive up-and-over window above the kitchen introduces shifting patterns of light and shadow throughout the day.
The building envelope is formed in textured brickwork of warm earth and charcoal tones. Softly rounded corners and integrated planters temper the solidity of the masonry, lending a sculptural quality to the extension and strengthening its connection to the landscape. The detailed brickwork reinforces the building's form while contributing depth and tactility to the façades.
Internally, a polished concrete floor provides continuity between old and new, emphasising the fluid organisation of the spaces. A restrained palette of oak-faced joinery, painted surfaces and natural materials creates a calm and durable interior, allowing light, texture and views to define the character of the new living environment.
